Demyx is essentially the odd man out in the Organization. Whereas the other twelve members will stop at nothing to achieve their goal (read: deception, sneaking around, violence) the musician downright refuses to use any underhanded tactics, no matter what the cause. He's a pacifist to a T and would rather talk his way out of an ordeal than use force, as the Organization is apt to do. Hence he's seen as something of a wimp amongst his colleagues; it's something he tries hard (and often fails) to disprove. You could also say Demyx is in denial when it comes to being a Nobody. They're told that they have no hearts, but he refuses to believe that. After all, everyone has to have a heart, if not feelings. Of the thirteen members he seems to have the most "heart" of them all, often displaying more emotion than the other twelve combined. He also seems more passionate and lively than the others, which may be another reason they look down on him. Demyx's strength is music. It's one of the few things he finds solace in considering his surroundings are often gloomy and dark; without it he wouldn't be half the person he is. (When he dies, he seems more distraught that his sitar has disappeared; when it does, he starts whining like he's about to cry.) Normally Demyx is a very upbeat and cheerful person. He has the mind of a child in that he can be both immature and naive; it's in the way he responds to things with such a blunt honesty, in the way he doesn't like to fight and in the way he denies not having a heart. Demyx is something of a goofball and it's enough to make you wonder if he's "all there" in the head. However, it's obvious from his bright personality that, when he did have a heart, he was a genuinely good guy. | b a c k g r o u n d . . . | Unfortunately most of the members of the Organization XIII aren't given pasts; only the first six have real names for their Other (read: the people they were when they had hearts) and some are identified as assistants to Ansem the Wise. Demyx, being number nine, has none of these things. We know only what happens to him in game. Demyx is a musician and, as such, fights with his sitar. In addition, his element is water and he controls the Dancer Nobodies. He is first seen in the Underworld, where he steals the Olympus Stone. (But clearly he doesn't think it's stealing; when accused of theft, he replies "now that's just plain rude!") Demyx is soon after given the task of finding Roxas, the thirteenth member of the Organization, who has escaped and perhaps even joined with his Other, Sora. So it's no surprise that, when he sees Sora first, he confuses the two and attempts to bring Sora back instead. Not only does the boy refuse, but he beats him in a fight (not a difficult thing to do considering Demyx's anti-violent nature). Sora sees Demyx again for the second and final time in Hollow Bastion. Once again irritated by the musician and his reluctance to fight, Sora eventually points out that he has no heart. This turns Demyx into a completely different person, and upsets him enough to make him want to fight to prove his worth. Unfortunately, he still isn't strong enough, and this time is defeated for good. When Demyx finds himself in Ares Arcanum he is already dead; Ultimecia opted to bring him back for his talents, in spite of the fact that he would never use them for evil. But, as luck (or lack thereof) would have it, Demyx is convinced that he managed to escape death, and that he is, in fact, alive. Not knowing that leaving the world of Ares would kill him, he seeks to find a way out as soon as possible. | | l i v i n g a r r a n g e m e n t s . . . | District: Palamedes Address: 100 Squire Court #1D
